Will Smith’s role as lonely scientist Robert Neville will be revived in part 2 of “I Am Legend”.

Hollywood Reporter  confirmed that Will Smith will star in the sequel to  I Am Legend  ( Dead City ) – a well-received horror and science fiction work about the post-apocalyptic world in 2007. Accompanying Smith in the film is Michael B. Jordan.

According to  Deadline , Warner Bros. announced plans to deploy  I Am Legend 2  since 2012, but only now has the production process been put into operation.

In addition to acting, Smith and the sexiest man of 2020 also hold production roles through his own company, with Smith as Westbrook Studios and B. Jordan as Outlier Society. Akiva Goldsman – the producer of the first title – will return through Weed Road Pictures. Besides, Goldsman is also responsible for the script.

Adapted from the 1954 novel of the same name by Richard Matheson,  I Am Legend  tells the story of the dangerous life of scientist Robert Neville (played by Will Smith) as he must find a way to survive in a post-apocalyptic world – where People are attacked by a strange epidemic and turn into zombies. Every day, Neville only knows how to make friends with his pet dog and mannequins.

Collider  rates Robert Neville as one of the 54-year-old star’s unique roles. Emotions of despair, resilience, endurance and hope mixed together on Smith’s face. The blockbuster directed by Francis Lawrence achieved the highest opening weekend revenue, earning  585 million USD  globally.

I Am Legend  ends with the death of Robert Neville, and therefore, the audience feels curious, not knowing how the character can return in the new film.

In essence,  I Am Legend  is not a movie about the battle between Robert Neville and the zombies, but rather, it is the fight against the loneliness of one remaining person on Earth.

Smith was excellent at expressing the feeling of a person living alone without communicating with humans for three years, longing for the day he can meet humans in the flesh.

According to the latest information from  Hollywood Reporter , Will Smith is on track to win an Oscar for  King Richard . Meanwhile, Michael B. Jordan is set to star in and direct the movie  Creed III  .
