Ariana Grande “Dominates “Unexpected Chart With New Release.

Ariana Grande is in the middle of promoting her new album Eternal Sunshine and its several hit singles. The pop and dance project is still performing well, and the current focus track from the set, “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love),” is constantly reaching new peaks. As she continues to push her latest full-length, the singer also earns another hit on a Billboard ranking she’s only reached a few times before.

When Childish Gambino dropped his latest set Atavista, the reworked version of his album 3.15.20, he included his a collaboration with Grande. Now, that tune has become an instant hit on one tally.

“Time,” one of the standout tracks from Atavista, debuts on the Hot R&B Songs chart this week. The track opens at No. 24 on Billboard’s ranking of the most-consumed R&B tunes in the country.

Grande has now reached the Hot R&B Songs chart only three times in her career. That’s not surprising, as she’s known more for her pop output—even if sometimes her work mixes pop and R&B. For the moment, “Time” stands as her lowest-charting tune on this ranking, and her only placement to fail to crack the top 10.

When she teamed up with The Weeknd, Grande earned her first—and so far only—No. 1 on the Hot R&B Songs chart. The two pushed the remix of “Die for You” to the summit for one frame about a year ago. She also sent her holiday jingle “Oh Santa!” with Mariah Carey and Jennifer Hudson to No. 4 in 2020.“Time” is one of four new hits Gambino claims on the Hot R&B Songs chart. Despite the Grande feature, it is also the lowest-ranking of the bunch. He also debuts tracks at Nos. 12 (“Atavista”), 14 (“Little Foot Big Foot” with Young Nudy), and 20 (“Psilocybae [Millennial Love]” with 21 Savage, Ink, and Kadhja Bonet).

Gambino and Grande released “Time” in 2020 when the first edition of the album was released. It took until now, with the renewed interest in the collection, to send the cut to the Hot R&B Songs chart.

As “Time” reaches the R&B tally, Grande’s own “We Can’t Be Friends” is surging. The single jumps to No. 1 on the Pop Airplay chart this week, reaching the summit for the first time. The smash marks the Grammy winner’s milestone tenth champion on the pop radio ranking.
