Katt Williams did not hesitate to pause his live comedy show on Saturday night after learning that an audience member passed out.
“I’m sorry if I won’t move on but that s–t that happened at, yeah, that Astroworld s–t, that mean we can’t never continue until we know somebody mothaf–king good,” the comedian said onstage at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky., according to TMZ.
Williams, 50, was referring to Travis Scott’s Astroworld Music Festival in Houston, Texas, where eight people were killed and hundreds were injured just one night earlier.
“I’m not [going to] be leaving with nothing on my conscious,” Williams continued, as the crowd responded with cheers in support of his decision to pause the live show.
According to fans on social media who attended the live show, Williams paused his set for approximately 10 minutes as medics assisted the person who passed out.
The comedian stayed on stage as the incident played out, TMZ reports, and continued speaking to the audience until the medics eventually removed the distressed guest out of the auditorium.
“We made the right decision,” the “For the Love of Money” actor said before jumping back into his set.
Fans continued to celebrate Williams’ decision to stop the show on Twitter, with one thanking him for “being such a professional.”
The incident at Williams’ show occurred just one night after the devastating Astroworld melee.
There has been a lot of speculation over whether Scott – who was performing as the headliner when the surge occurred – was aware of what was happening.
The rapper’s pregnant girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, attended the festival along with their 3-year-old daughter, Stomi, and sister Kendall Jenner. She later defended Scott in a statement shared on social media.
“I want to make it clear that we weren’t aware of any fatalities until the news came out after the show,” she wrote. “In no world would [we] have continued filming or performing.”
She added, “I am sending my deepest condolences to the families during this difficult time and will be praying for the healing of everyone who has been impacted.”
